These brand-new, genuine Girling aluminium clutch slave cylinders from Girling are fitted to various vehicles from the 1960’s on and were original equipment on many formula cars and sports racers equipped with Hewland transmissions. The more common 7/8" bore version is available in right and left handed versions and the less common 3/4" bore size is available in Right-Hand version only. A non-handed version is also available where the inlet and bleed are interchangeable and are positioned on opposite sides.
The 7/8" Left-Hand version is ideal for mounting on the right side of the transaxle in most mid-engined cars. This version fits Hewland FG 400, FGA, and FGB gearboxes.
The 7/8" Right-Hand version is typically installed on the left side of the transaxle in most mid-engined cars. It is most commonly used on the Hewland Mk series, DG 300, and FT 200 gearboxes. Note that on the Mk series, the pushrod points down and both ports are at the top.
All versions have two 5/16" (8mm) mounting bolt holes oriented perpendicular to the bore and spaced 2 3/8" (60.3mm) centre-to-centre. L.O.A. is approximately 3 1/2" (89mm) including boot. Inlet and bleed ports are both 3/8-24 UNF with a concave seat and are interchangeable, so the inlet hose and bleed screw can be installed in either port. Maximum stroke 1.3"
